Caribetours: very comfortable coaches but take a blanket. It's a freezer inside. St.Domingo-Sanchez approx. 4 hours; Price 250 DOP pp. From Sanchez, you may share a guagua and the price of 3-400 DOP to Las Terrenas with other passengers. Public guaguas will take you to LT for 50 DOP pp but their departing point is a few km's further down the road.
Take this if you've got a lot of luggage and want to travel cheap and comfortable.

Transporte Samana: much more traditional, stops more often, less comfortable but for 230DOP pp they have the advantage to take you all the way to Las Terrenas and further to El Limon. Hence also passing la Barbacoa, where they will stop, on your request, right in front of "Calle Luna".
They have less space for a lot of luggage in their buses. Contrary to most believes, they're safe, reliable and on time .... they're just lively.

Taxi: in St. Domingo, always call Apolo Taxi +1809 537 00 00. You give them your departing and arrival point and ask for the fare. Double check the price with the driver they send you. If he's asking for more, don't argue, send him of and start the procedure again calling Apolo Taxi. The company is reliable, not always the drivers but with them and this system, you'll never be cheated.

Its nevertheless not the most inexpensive transport if you're travelling on your own. A trip from St. Domingo to Las Terrenas (4 hours) is priced at 160-180 US$. |

Taxiplane: use it if you're in a rush or, why not, as a thrilling quest. Several airflight companies are flying to El Portillo, near Las Terrenas. The trip costs 75 US$ pp and will take 30 minutes to or from Santo Domingo. Either landing or takeoff in El Portillo is breathtaking and indeed an experience.
