How to go there?
The air links are multiplying and accompanying the considerable growth of the tourist frequentation (several scheduled flights per week departing from London (BA, Air France, AOM ...), more than 20 daily flights from and towards the USA but also regular connections with all the large cities (Madrid, Rome, Lisbon, Geneva, Frankfort, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Havana, Montreal...) and 3 daily flights to the French West Indies, via American Airlines and Air Guadeloupe.

Which are the formalities?

For the European nationals, it is enough to have a valid passport and a tourism card valid for 90 days. The latter can be obtained for $10 US upon arrival at the airport. A departure tax of the same amount is required at the airport at the time of the departure.

When to go there?

With its tropical climate moderated by the trade winds, it is hot all during the year, between 25O and 30O C However the ideal period is located between December and April, the seasons of rains being from May to June and October/November.

Which time difference?

In summer the time difference compared to Europe is six hours, being reduced to 5 during the winter months

How to pay?

The national currency is the peso (DOP). Almost all the banks will exchange American dollars, but could have difficulty with other foreign currencies. The slot-machines become increasingly popular, but your best option remains the traveller's checks in dollars or Euros and some cash. All the major hotels and many of the big restaurants will accept the credit cards, particularly VISA and MasterCard. In smaller shops, expect to pay in cash.

Which are the dangers?

Generally, the Dominican Republic is very safe country. As everywhere, it is necessary to be aware of pickpockets which haunt primarily the tourist places. The Dominican being of a very cordial nature and smiling and loving the children, this country lends itself very well for holidays in family. As regards to health, no vaccination is obligatory nor is malaria prophylaxis required.

Which is the electrical current?

The electrical current is in 110 Volt and it is recommended to take a transformer and an universal adapter.
